DESCRIPTION: The galls of this tiny mite are seen as a series of bulges on the upperside of the leaf, usually arranged in a central row near the base of the leaf (but they can be found further along). Each gall is hairy and slightly roughened. The underside is seen as a depression filled with numerous pointed hairs that are whitish when young before becoming creamier with age. DISTRIBUTION: Apparently widespread throughout Britian wherever the host plant is found but this species is seriously under-recorded. HABITAT: Found on the leaves of various Birches.
